The bridge comprises the following characteristics. Five span structure (18.3 m spans) 4 sets of bridge piers Steel girders supported by concrete piers founded by pile cap and piles. A series of engineering assessments have been conducted to investigate the load capacity of the rail bridge. The piers strengthening work have been identified to satisfy with the 200LA rail design load requirement as per PTA Narrow gauge code of practice requirement. A further engineering assessment of the piers was carried out in 2023. It was determined a concrete collar is required to be installed at each pier as part of strengthening works. The Scope of Services for this brief includes the bridge pier strengthening with the method of concrete collar with chemical anchored starter bars to the 4 piers (2 No. columns per Pier) totalling 8 No. Concrete Pier Column strengthening.
