| WA-DMIRS21550 | The Ashmore, Seppelt 1 and Seppelt 2 former diamond exploration sites are located approximately 75km east of Kalumburu and 150km northwest of Wyndham, Figure 1. The three discrete sites span a distance of 30km. Works by the then tenement holder were halted in 2004 stating the sites were not financially viable, but the tenements were not forfeited until late 2019. The Federal Court appointed liquidators for the former tenement holder in April 2020. The mine sites have been declared abandoned for the purposes of the Mining Rehabilitation Fund Act 2012 . This ?request for quote? is being sought by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety?s (DMIRS) Abandoned Mines Program (AMP) to undertake a desktop Surface Water Study across the three sites. The Ashmore site totalling 33.24ha includes three open pits, three waste rock dumps (WRD), low grade stockpiles, a tailings storage facility (TSF), settlement dam, process dam and a processing site laydown area, Figure 2. The Seppelt 1 site totalling 8.36ha includes one open pit, a dam and a laydown area. Waste rock and low grade stockpiles are also present but are loosely distributed and paddocked dumped around the open pit, Figure 3. The Pit is potentially overtopping and discharging to the environment.
