| WA-PTA240513 | The City West Project is comprised of two Phases. Phase One is the replacement and raising of the Sutherland Street bridges. Phase Two works are associated with the upgrade/replacement to City West Station. PTA is currently undertaking rail planning work and seeking funding for both phases of the project to be delivered concurrently. PTA’s intent is to seek specialist engineering advice regarding the constructability of elements of the City West Project to support the development of mitigation strategies to control keys risks to the program. The primary objective is to reduce or avoid the closure of the Fremantle line, reduce the overall construction timeline for the project and minimise disruption to the adjacent road network and Principal Shared Path (PSP). The following elements of the project requires assessment: The replacement of Sutherland Street Bridge The proposed new underpass at City West Station PTA requires a concise report with supporting appendices/attachments containing the following for both Phase 1 and 2 as individual projects and combined: Staging plans for construction Construction methodology and technique to reduce any closure time. High level construction timeframe (i.e. estimated months for construction) identifying all closures needed and length of each. Identification and detailing of long lead items, estimated duration for procurement and preconstruction activities. Construction stage land requirements. High level review of foundation/substructure of bridge design for the area including mechanical/chemical stabilisation of earth. Key risks including any potential fatal flaws (with proposed mitigation measures and suggestions for improvement). Suggested additional design information required to inform risk.
