| WA-PTA200133 | The Public Transport Authority (PTA) currently uses an analogue Private Mobile Radio (PMR) system, which provides voice radio communications to support its train, security and maintenance operations. The PMR system is unable to provide data radio communications, which is preventing PTA from taking advantage of current and emerging applications to make rail operations safer and more efficient. PTA has received funding from the Western Australian State Government to replace its PMR system through its Radio System Replacement Project (RSR Project). PTA's replacement system must: provide PTA with a modern private digital radio communications system capable of supporting voice and data services for safe and efficient rail operations; comprise a digital radio solution based on Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in the 1800 MHz band; and provide associated dispatcher and user radio equipment. As an integral part of the RSR Project, PTA is seeking to engage a Contractor to carry out the design, supply, install, test, integrate, commission, bring into service and provide partial ongoing maintenance and support for the new private digital radio system (the Digital Radio System). The delivery of these works and services associated with the Digital Radio System will be under a Design, Build and Maintain Contract. The Maintenance Phase will operate for five years with PTA having sole discretion to extend the term for a further two periods, each of five years. PTA intends to perform first responder maintenance tasks (level 1), and engage the Contractor to perform level 2 and level 3 tasks, essentially providing maintenance support and system support services to PTA. PTA also expects that the Contractor will provide ongoing advice in the areas of systems operations and maintenance planning to assist PTA in maximising the performance of the Digital Radio System. | Public Transport Authority | $327,754,379 |
