| WA-PTA240005 | Background The Public Transport Authority (PTA) has been investigating the future of the Parry Street footbridge in Fremantle, which is primarily used by cruise passengers during the cruise ship season between October to April, and by Fremantle Port Authority (FPA) staff. The footbridge, which is a PTA asset built in 1968, is in poor condition both structurally and visibly and is not conducive to enhancing the cruise visitor experience, nor a fitting first impression of Western Australia for cruise passengers. The footbridge does not provide direct access to the central area of Fremantle near Fremantle Station and has been assessed as having little or no heritage value within the Port of Fremantle area. The PTA is seeking a contractor to carry out the demolition of the footbridge. Scope of Works and Specification The following works are included as part of the scope. Dilapidation survey before and after the site occupation. Safely dismantle, remove and dispose (off-site) of all footbridge elements, including superstructure, substructure and foundations. Safely dismantle, remove and dispose (off-site) of all redundant services on the existing bridge. Safely dismantle, remove and dispose (off-site) of all concrete pavement and asphalt that connect to the footbridge approaches. Make good of the existing ground in the work area. Any in-service electrical conduits and corresponding fixtures shall be protected during the demolition works. Reinstatement of Roads and Footpath if required as its current condition.
