Barlil and Cooranga Weir - Main Construction Program - Forward Procurement Notification

Brief

On behalf of the Queensland Government, Sunwater is assessing two new weirs aimed at improving regional water security: Barlil Weir on Barambah Creek, north-west of Murgon in the South Burnett region of Queensland, Australia. The project involves construction of a new weir with a spillway width of approximately 50m, and a capacity of 1,500 megalitres (ML). Cooranga Weir on the Boyne River, south of Mundubbera in the North Burnett region of Queensland, Australia. The project involves construction of a new weir with a spillway width of approximately 100m and a capacity of approximately 2,500 ML. To progress the project Sunwater is looking to appoint up to two (2) experienced contractors, one for each weir under Construct Only contracts in December 2026 to work with Sunwater and undertake construction and commissioning. An Expression of Interest (EOI) for this opportunity is anticipated to be released 2 weeks after release of this notification. The EOI will be released to market for 4 weeks.
