Doctor Quality Assessments - Nurse and Telehealth Review

Brief

Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) is seeking to engage a suitably qualified expert to review emerging issues in how health assessments are caried out under the Coal Mine Workers’ Health Scheme (CMWHS). The review will specifically inform RSHQ’s position on two matters, in the context of the objectives and requirements of the CMWHS: Whether it is clinically appropriate for a health assessment examination, or aspects of the examination, to be completed by anyone other than an examining doctor (EMO) or supervising doctor (SD). Whether it is clinically appropriate for a health assessment examination, or aspects of the examination, to be carried out via telehealth or video call, or use of other emerging medical technology (e.g. digital stethoscope). This review will inform RSHQ’s policy position on key aspects of health assessment delivery, clinical governance and regulatory enforcement.
