Port of Hay Point - Management of TBT Contamination Stage 1

Brief

NQBP undertook sediment sampling at the Port of Hay Point for the 2024 maintenance dredging program and identified Tributyl Tin (TBT), a contaminant historically found in antifouling paints, present in four of the seven terminal berth pockets, two at DBCT (Berths 1 & 2) and two at HPCT (Berths 1 & 2). To enable NQBP to understand the full extent and volume of TBT contamination present at the Port of Hay Point, NQBP requires a Consultant to undertake the following Scope of Services (as set out Annexure One – Scope of Services) and summarised as follows: Quantify the full extent of TBT contamination and identify suitable management options/approach including approval pathways and high-level costs. Determine a preferred contamination management approach/option.
