Purpose: This notice is issued for informational purposes only. No Scope of Works or additional details are available at this time. Overview: Queensland Rail manages a 6,000km rail network across the state, including over 2,000km within the North Queensland Greater Area Rail Network. A future tender will seek to engage qualified suppliers to deliver Vegetation Management Services across key regions in North Queensland, including Burdekin, Fitzroy, Mackay/Whitsundays, North Queensland (Wet Tropics), and the Great Northern Railway (Mt Isa Line region). The objective is to support safe and reliable rail operations through effective vegetation control and maintenance. Indicative Scope: The anticipated services may include: Mechanical and chemical vegetation control Inspection and reporting Compliance with environmental and safety regulations Coordination with operational teams to minimise service disruptions All services will be expected to align with Queensland Rail’s technical specifications, safety standards, and environmental guidelines. The following is an exhaustive/complete list of all Services that be requested under the contract; however not all Services will necessarily apply to or be required in every region. (a) Comprehensive slashing: (formerly called Total Slashing – this includes treatment within the Danger Zone. (b) General Slashing (formerly called Total Slashing - Excludes Danger Zone) (c) Selective Slashing A (formerly called Level Crossing & Yard etc slashing & now including the Danger Zone (d) Selective Slashing B (formerly called Level Crossing & Yard etc slashing) (e) General Asset and urban fenceline (f) Rail Stock & Rural fenceline (g) Weed treatment (Grass/Broadleaf) (h) Weed treatment (Woody) (i) Embankment Slashing (j) Wide Corridor / Fire Protection (k) Minor works/ Infrequent services Timing: Existing contracts are due to expire at the end of 2026. The tender is expected to be released in mid-January 2026. Note: This is a forward procurement notification only. No further information is available at this stage.
