Registration of Interest - New Bundaberg Hospital Workers Accommodation
Health Infrastructure Queensland
Brief
PROJECT DETAILS Health Infrastructure Queensland (HIQ) invites Registrations of Interest (ROIs) from qualified providers to deliver a scalable, high-quality accommodation solution in Bundaberg to support the new Bundaberg Hospital construction workforce. Health Infrastructure Queensland (HIQ) is seeking accommodation options capable of supporting a construction workforce ranging from fifty (50) to five hundred (500) personnel, peaking at 500 from Q2 2026 for approximately two years. Proposals with legacy outcomes are preferred, such as permanent or adaptable facilities that provide lasting community benefits like housing or infrastructure post-construction. PROJECT BACKGROUND AND LEGACY OPPORTUNITY Bundaberg faces workforce shortages amid Queensland's construction boom, making dedicated worker accommodation essential while offering opportunities for regional value. HIQ seeks functional, compliant solutions that enable repurposing for key worker housing, short-term family stays, or community infrastructure, supporting long-term goals like enhanced healthcare, housing, and development. ACCOMMODATION REQUIREMENTS Solutions may be onsite (at Thebahan hospital site) or offsite and must provide: High-quality, fully serviced units with modern finishes. Flexible designs (temporary, permanent, or modular) for repurposing. Convenient location meeting worker access and service needs. Minimum inclusions: Fully furnished units with fixtures, whitegoods, and appliances. Daily services: laundry, cleaning, and linen. Meal options via onsite kitchens or local partnerships (e.g., deliveries, dine-in, vouchers). Support facilities: kitchen/dining, wet mess, gym, first aid, laundry, bin storage, sanitation, and recreation areas. Sealed pathways, awnings, and weather protection (for onsite). Compliance with codes, plus assistance for approvals and certifications. Emphasis on: Boosting Bundaberg's long-term infrastructure/housing. Promoting sustainable development. Co-investment or partnerships with government/community stakeholders.
