Brief

The Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) building at the Hay Point lookout, in conjunction with Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) staff, provides an essential service in maintaining the safety of life at sea within the Hay Point and Mackay regions. Operating continuously, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the VTS ensures safe and efficient marine operations while contributing to environmental protection. The building is also utilised as the Pilot House for NQBP Marine Pilots operating at the Port of Hay Point and Auriga carrying out helicopter marine pilot transfers. There is also a public viewing area and toilets that are available for the public to use.
