East Gippsland Shire Council located in Eastern Victoria covers 20,930 square kilometres with a 2024 population of 50,502 and an annual growth rate of 0.5%. The largely rural area consists of various townships and small communities, with most residents concentrated in the south-west Gippsland Lakes region. As the municipality grows and services are brought in line with updated Victorian Government policy and regulations, a comprehensive review of services was conducted to facilitate informed decision-making. This review contributed to the development of a 10-Year Waste and Recycling Transition Plan, which addresses the changing needs of the community and highlights the importance of planning for future waste and recycling services and infrastructure investment.
